Dave and I went to school together from the first grade all the way through to the end of college. For many of those years I considered him to be my closest friend. We were always on the go doing one thing or another. Mountaineer games. Pittsburgh Pirate games. Pittsburgh Penguin games. Concerts. Trips down to Deep Creek Lake in Maryland. And if not out of town doing something, we would get together all the time to do things like go to the movies, play pinball, toss frisbee or maybe go for something to eat…. usually at Pizzeria Italia or our favorite place….Wings and Things (now called Wings Ole). Dave left me with a thousand different memories to think back on and bring to me a smile and a chuckle. Please accept my deepest sympathies for the loss of this fine person.

I am so sorry Molly. No words can possibly take your pain away. Dave and I had quite a few chuckles together at work. I will miss the twinkle in his eyes and his hardy laugh. Please know we are all saddened by this loss. Sending hugs and prayers to you and the Kelly family as well. Please let us know if you need anything. Lastly, he loved you so much Molly. He always spoke about you with me and how lucky he was to have you. I am sure he will continue to be a presence in your life to watch over you.

Molly,

I just received word from Colleen about Dave’s passing…I’m so very sorry to know this sad news.

As I read one of Dave’s “Medium” missives (upon leaving snowy Chicago and embarking to balmy Florida) I got such a fine and warm impression of him…and what a way with words; he was just masterful as a visual writer (as the Irish typically are!).

If I can do anything for you and yours, please don’t hesitate to reach out…

Always,
Jim (Amate House)
