Mr. Daniel Frank Moretti, Jr.
October 28, 1962 – January 12, 2021
Daniel Frank Moretti, Jr., passed away on Tuesday January 12th of 2021 from complications of the Coronavirus.
Dannie (aka Dino, much to his mother’s dismay) was an avid boater, paddle boarder, scuba diver, and enjoyed pretty much any activity on or in the water. He loved it so much he lived on boats for many of his adult years. He was also a car buff and motorcycle rider.
Dannie was very talented in music from an early age and had gotten a full scholarship to the famed New England Conservatory of Music. Before he finished his education there, New York was calling and he took his talents there to New York City, where he was an instrumental figure in the NYC club scene of the early 1980s and was a key person in founding the famed Palladium in NYC.
Dannie then took his photography talents on the road west, where he was a celebrity photographer to many famous stars, including Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Farrah Fawcett. He lived in many places aside from his hometown of Keene, NH where his family and friends first saw his many musical talents first take shape in many shows at Keene High School, most memorable was the Nostalgia Night Show, where he displayed his singing, guitar playing, comedy and acting talents.
Other places of residence were NYC, San Diego, Pasadena, Nashville and his last residence of Naples, Florida where he spent many years, several of which enjoying life with his beloved Uncle David until his death in 2014.
Dannie had many friends, all of whom have described him as just a “really good guy.” That was the same from his early years to his later years. He would always lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He also loved animals, much like his father who had two cats and a dog that got more attention than any pets on the planet. We would joke about our dad pushing the two cats in a cat stroller. Dannie probably would never have done that, but he loved his dog Stella very much when he had her as his first mate while living on his boat in Naples.
In his later years he worked in Realty and Insurance. He was always involved in his work and gave it his all but also kept up with his water hobbies and enjoyed his favorite entertainment spot, Burn by Rocky Patel with many friends.
Dannie was the son of the pre-deceased Daniel F Moretti of Fairhaven Ma and Judith Fitz- Simon, currently of Buzzards Bay, MA. He was the step-dad to Alexis Nicole, who lovingly called him Daddy Dino and former husband of Tammy Searle. He is survived also by his sister, Jacqueline Moretti Zora and her husband, Timothy of Buzzards Bay, MA. He also is survived by his nephew Raymond R. Sprague of Braintree MA, his other nephew Ryan Sprague and his wife Christine with his great-nephew Daniel Sprague (named after Dannie’s dad). He also leaves behind his aunt, Joyce Townsend of Many, Louisiana and his Aunt Gloria and Uncle Bill of Cranston, RI, as well as several cousins on both the Moretti and Fitz-Simon side.
He is also survived by his best friend (or more appropriately his brother from another mother) Shawn Carroll of Sarasota Florida. He was a lifelong friend of Dannie’s since High School, over 40 years.
Dannie will be missed by many for his larger-than-life personality and for just being that all-around good guy.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to: Naples Humane Society, 370 Airport-Pulling Road, Naples, Florida 34104.
There will not be a formal service. A cremation has been done and his final resting place will be with his mom at her assisted living apartment until his eternal resting place with his dad and mom at Riverside Cemetery in Fairhaven.
Dannie’s family has lovingly put together some pictures of him, which can be viewed by visiting: https://photos.app.goo.gl/1JtkDQEABm79p6Z97 and https://photos.app.goo.gl/rozPsikgZMaFeViQ8

It was a honor to call Dannie “Dino” a friend. He helped me and Teresa feel like Naples was our home. We only new him for the last 6 years, but we will never forget the kind and giving friendship we shared with him.
He will be missed, but never forgotten.

Dan (what I always called him, unless I was irked with him and then it was his full name) was part of my circle of friends in high school. As with all that knew him, we are blessed for the short time that was given to us to enjoy sharing his life. May the Lord give to each His peace and may He comfort all those who mourn.

Oh Dino, my heart is shattered into a million pieces. You were always my knight in shining armor who was there to protect and help Alexis and I through everything. I have gone to email, text or call you about 50 times since Jan 12 and then I remember that you are not there to receive it. For 22 years you have been loved greatly by Alexis and I and we have always cherished you. We were suppose to grow old together!… Sharing many more memories and milestones together, such as Alexis’ wedding on day, future grandkids and more. Oh you would have been the best grandfather, because you were always the most incredible father. So smart, loving and fun. I married well! May 1, the day we were married will always be a special day to me and I shall celebrate you then as well. We may have been divorced, but the best decision we ever made was that we would always remain close and united for Alexis. You will be in our hearts forever, Tammy
