Harry J Miller, 95, of Naples Florida died on May 20, 2023, surrounded by his family, just a few days past his 95 birthday.

Born to the late Harry and Marie Miller of Norwood Pennsylvania, Harry was a graduate of St James High School, who led the state collegians in scoring when he tallied 18 touchdowns in seven games during the 1953 season. Harry was considered “A Man For All Seasons” as an athlete playing three sports, basketball, baseball and football.

He continued to play football at Kings College, played minor league baseball for the Atlanta Braves (f/k/a Boston) for two seasons and rejected pro football overtures from both the Cleveland Browns and Green Bay Packers. Harry was also one of the outstanding players in the Delco Baseball League.

Harry started his football coaching career at Nether Providence High School and went on to coach football at Marple Newtown High School in 1969. He coached football at Widener University as an assistant coach and was the head baseball coach at Widener University for almost 25 years.

Harry retired to Naples Florida with the love of his life, Doris, enjoying beautiful 78 years of life together. Previously they were residents of Wilmington, Delaware.

Harry was a Wonderful, Loving and Devoted Husband and Father. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends and family. He is preceded in death by a son, Joseph T. Miller who died in 2019, a sister, Helen Polischuk and brother Edward Miller. Survivors: Loving and Devoted Wife of 70 years, Doris Miller, children, June Miller-Kaitz (Jim) and Lynne Miller-Mahoney (Phil), 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

A mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Naples Florida on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the AVOW Hospice 888-484-AVOW.
