Arlene Keig

March 23, 1938~March 24, 2024

Arlene Carole Keig, 86, of Naples, Florida, passed away on March 24th, 2024. She was born on March 23rd, 1938, in Drayton, North Dakota, to the late Ed and Dorine Walberg.

Arlene graduated from UND with her masters in education. She then continued to dedicate her life to education by serving as an elementary school teacher, where she positively impacted the lives of many children. She also managed Bill Keig’s surgical practice with precision and care.

In her free time, Arlene found joy in gardening, staying up to date on current events, playing the piano, and fishing for walleye while taking boat rides around their cabin in Lake of the Woods, Canada.

Arlene will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her surviving family members: (Daughter) Shelly LaBelle, (Granddaughters) Lacey, Megan, and Crystal LaBelle, (Stepchildren) Bill Keig, Brian Keig, and Sharon Price, and (Sister) Thelma James.

She was preceded in death by her (Son) Michael Fail, (Husband) Bill Keig, (Mother) Dorine Walberg, (Father) Ed Walberg, (Brother) Dean Walberg, and (Former Husband) Mick Fail.

The family lost a matriarch, but heaven gained an angel. She may be resting in peace, but she’s still hard at work in our hearts.

May Arlene Carole Keig’s memory be a blessing to all who knew her.

Please join us to celebrate the life of Arlene Keig. A memorial service followed by a celebration of life will be held at the United Methodist Church, on Saturday August 3rd, 2024 at noon, located at 203 North Main Street, Drayton, ND 58225. A light lunch will be provided. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made on behalf of Arlene to the Drayton United Methodist Church.

So many fun memories of Arlene cooking together at Lake of the Woods, our boat rides and visits when she and Bill stopped by on their way to Florida or returning to Lake of the Woods. She had a lot of responsibility caring lovingly for Bill in his last years and handled it with grace. Kathy Keig

I really miss Arlene, a wonderful Step Mother. I have always enjoyed visiting with her, Dad and family either in Canada or Florida with great food, boating, projects and exploring around. After Dad passed, it was still great to visit her at both places and doing the above things.
After many decades of knowing Arlene, her passing leaves fond memories and I think of her often. Brian Keig

Arlene was a great partner for my Dad. They enjoyed traveling extensively and worked hard together. Their hospitality is remembered fondly by our entire family. She was a good woman who lived a good life. She will be missed.
