Robert Mathias “Bob” Pineau
June 4, 1953 – October 4, 2024
It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert Mathias “Bob” Pineau, 71, of Naples, Florida and Duxbury, Massachusetts, announce his unexpected passing on October 4, 2024, in Florida.
Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, on June 4, 1953, to Robert and Bernadette Pineau, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and leader who touched countless lives both personally and professionally. He attended Cardinal Spellman High School, graduating in 1971, before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Bentley College. Bob went on to become a licensed CPA and earned an MBA from Suffolk University. He began his career with PKF in Boston and later joined Electroswitch in Weymouth, where he rose through the ranks to become President and CEO.
Bob was a man of great faith. Last year he traveled to Medjugorje in honor of our Blessed Mother. He served on the board of the Catholic Cemetery Group of the Archdiocese of Boston and supported the initiatives of Cardinal Sean O’Malley for the Catholic education of children, the education of priests, and the continuance of chaplaincy programs for the sick and hospitalized. Bob would never miss Sunday mass no matter where he was.
Bob was passionate about life beyond his successful career. An avid golfer, he also loved boating, kayaking, and traveling, but his greatest joy was spending time with his beloved wife and best friend, Donna, their children, and grandchildren. His generosity of spirit extended to the community, where Bob was widely recognized for his commitment to service. He received numerous awards, including the prestigious Paul Harris Award through Rotary International, and held leadership roles in many South Shore organizations. Among his many roles, he served as President of Duxbury Youth Hockey, President of the Weymouth Rotary Club, Chair of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce, and was a long-time Board member for South Shore Hospital. For years Bob has served on the Board of Directors of Father Bill’s & MainSpring. He supported many other charitable organizations, championing causes for the vulnerable both locally and globally, including the The Arc of the South Shore, Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program, Friendship Home in Norwell, Heroes in Transition, Mercy Ships, MGH Global Mission in Bangladesh, New England Villages, Norwell VNA and Hospice, Talking Information, and Wounded Warriors Project. Bob also funded scholarships for the education of nurses at Laboure College of Healthcare.
Bob’s legacy of leadership and compassion will forever live on through his family and the many lives he touched. He is survived by his wife, Donna, his children Brad (Briana) Pineau, Meredith (Darren) Fahy, R. Brian (Kelsey) Pineau, and Elizabeth (Ryan) Hamilton, as well as his cherished grandchildren Brady, Clara, Parker, Brooke, Rose, and a soon-to-arrive baby boy Pineau. He is also survived by his siblings Mary Redman, Therese Robishaw and husband Harry, Donald Pineau, Gabrielle Pineau, Sara Mydlack and husband Thomas, Joseph Pineau and wife Deborah, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and his sister Suzanne.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Shepherd Funeral Home in Kingston, Massachusetts. A funeral service will be held at Holy Family Church in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., followed by burial at Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to charitable organizations that held special significance to Bob: Father Bill’s & MainSpring at 430 Belmont Street Brockton, MA 02301 (helpfbms.org/donate) or South Shore Health, 55 Fogg Road, South Weymouth, MA 02190-2455 (South Shore Health). Please make your gift to the South Shore Hospital Cancer Center and reference in memory of Robert Pineau. The Pineau family expresses their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time of immense loss and remembrance of Bob’s extraordinary life.
