Edmund S. Ludwig, 91, passed away peacefully on August 4, 2024, under hospice care at Avow in Naples, FL.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Darlene Ruth (Brandt) Ludwig. They shared a wonderful marriage of 67 years, residing together in Naples, FL. Born in Robesonia, Pennsylvania on November 8, 1932, Ed was the son of the late Lewis H. and Ola (née Gibbs) Ludwig. He graduated from Robesonia High School in 1950.
Ed proudly served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict, earning the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Medals. After his military service, he worked for Prudential Insurance Company for 20 years, most of those years as a Sales Manager. Ed later transitioned into a new career with his family, starting Arrowhead Springs Trout Hatchery and later expanding into the spring water business. Together with his wife, Darlene, son Michael, and daughter-in-law Tamra, they ran Arrowhead Springs for 28 years before retiring.
In retirement, Ed loved traveling and attending shows with Darlene, spending much of their time in Marco Island and Naples, eventually moving to Naples full-time. He enjoyed playing golf, boating, and fishing. Ed was also a dedicated Mason, achieving 50 years of Masonic service in July 2023.
Ed is also survived by his son Michael Ludwig and daughter-in-law Tamra Ludwig. He was predeceased by his grandson, Zachary Ludwig, a Marine veteran who tragically passed away on New Year’s Eve 2023. Ed is also survived by his sister Gloria Barnett and was predeceased by his brothers Robert, Lewis, and William
Michael and his family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Avow Hospice for their kindness, care, and compassion. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Ed’s memory to Warrior Homes of Collier.
Ed was a true patriot, proud of his service, his brothers’ service, and extremely proud of his grandson, Zachary.
