Florette Koenig-Kahn of Naples, Florida, sadly passed away on Monday, July 15th, 2024. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and a force of mind, body, and spirit. She was 88.
Florette earned her Master’s Degree at Fordham University, Lincoln Center Campus, School of Social Work (MSW/L.C.S.W., Diplomate) in 1981, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She had a private practice, “The Agoraphobia Clinic of NY & NJ,” for over 30 years.
Her life’s work was dedicated to helping others improve their mental health and live healthy and meaningful lives without any stigma. Florette always found a way to make the impossible possible and deeply believed in the power of human connection.
Florette is survived by her daughter Lisa D. Koenig, RDH, B.S., and son-in-law Dr. Pablo H. Goldberg, MD, from Manhattan, NY; her daughter Laura G. Koenig-Rivkin, B.S., from Smithtown, NY; son-in-law Roy Barbarino, B.S.; and two grandchildren: Elana Rivkin, B.A., from Alexandria, Virginia, and Eric Rivkin, B.S., from San Francisco.
According to Florette, “I realize I have achieved my objectives and goals through lifelong learning, academics, art, sculpting, painting, doodling, clay hand-building/ceramics, dance, theater, museums, traveling, along with my love for classical and Latin beat music.”
Most importantly, Florette was a kind and loving human being. Her life’s work was her passion: saving lives, mentoring, and being the best role model to all who knew her.
Florette’s way to end each conversation: “Bye For Now!”
