In the care of
Naples Funeral Home & Cremation Services
After a hard-fought battle with cancer, David Gilmour, 61, of Naples, Florida, passed away on Thursday, April 16th at 9:33 PM. He was surrounded by the people who meant the most to him—his wife, mother, sister, children, stepchild, and his best friend.
David was the kind of man who made an impact without ever trying. Brilliant, kind, and endlessly thoughtful, he was someone people turned to—not just for guidance, but for understanding. He had a way of making you feel seen, heard, and supported, no matter the situation. He made everyone around him better and his absence leaves a space that simply cannot be filled.
Known affectionately as “The Deuce” by his golf buddies, David found joy in the things he loved most—playing golf and tennis, traveling, fast cars, and time spent with friends and family. At his country club, his signature drink—a vodka cranberry—became so synonymous with him that members simply called it “The Gilmour.” It’s a small but perfect reflection of how deeply he was woven into the fabric of the lives around him.
It’s those little moments, full of laughter and familiarity, that will be remembered just as much as the big ones.
Born in Michigan, David ultimately made his home in Naples, Florida—a place he loved deeply. Some of his happiest moments were the simplest ones, especially sitting on the beach at sunset with his wife. In recent months, he had been building a home on the beach, dreaming of quiet evenings spent together watching the sun dip below the horizon. More than anything, he just wanted one night there, side by side, taking it all in.
David’s legacy is not just in what he did, but in how he made people feel. He leaves behind stronger, kinder, and better versions of everyone lucky enough to have known him. His love, his wisdom, and his presence will carry on in all of them.
He is survived by his wife Veronica, his father William and his wife Sandra, his mother Patricia, his sister Krista, his son Adam and his wife Sara, and his daughter Amanda and her husband Chris.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to NATIONAL PANCREATIC CANCER FOUNDATION @ NPCF.us
