Walter Ortiz, age 48, of Queens, New York, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026.
Born on January 17, 1978, in Santa Ana, El Salvador, Walter was the beloved son of Israel and Salvadora Angelica Ortiz. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend who filled every room with his energy and warmth.
Walter built a successful career in the telecommunications industry. Known for his charismatic personality, larger-than-life presence, and great sense of humor, he had a rough exterior but a warm, gentle heart. He was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He touched the lives of many through his authentic, loyal advice and his generous spirit.
He lived life fully and found joy in simple pleasures: spending time with family and friends, lakeside barbecues, fishing, dancing, cooking, riding motorcycles, visiting the beach, and showering love on his beloved dog, Zeus, whom he called his "son.”
A memorial service to celebrate Walter’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Moloney Hewell Funeral Home, 4140 University Blvd. S., Jacksonville, FL 32216.
