Rhoda Kiefel Cruise Huston

Bonita Springs, FL

Born on June 21, 1936 in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Ina McNelly Kiefel. Rhoda graduated and received her  R.N. from Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Elmira, NY in 1957. In 1971, she received her B.S. Ed at Mansfield University,  Mansfield, PA. She was a School Nurse-Teacher for the Corning-Painted Post School District, NY from 1971-1997.Working in several schools  within the district but most notably at East High School. She was a school representative for the Corning Teacher’s Association, loved music, played her keyboard daily, enjoyed photography, making greeting cards, avid walker, and loved nature in general and dogs in particular. She  traveled the US extensively via motorhome. For many years, Rhoda was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Harford County,  MD, where she participated in the choir, facilitated Adult Enrichment Programs, and also chaired the church’s Anti-Oppression/ Anti-Racism  Social Justice Task Force. She also volunteered with The Hays-Heighe House located on the Harford Community College campus.

Rhoda is survived by daughters Linda Cruise of Canandaigua, NY, Kimberly Cruise (Scott Cooper) of Canandaigua, NY, Deborah Cruise (Glenn  Rogers), of Havre de Grace, MD and Naples, FL, son Alan Cruise (Julie Cruise) of Maple Valley, WA, and grandchildren, Tara Phillips, Matthew Phillips, Nicholas Cruise, Lexi Cruise, Tyler Cruise, Alex Rogers, Jocelyn Rogers and Cassandra Rogers, as well as many dear friends and neighbors.
